Second prize in the Student Oral Presentation Competition (August 16th, 2016)

On July 24th 2016 Emanuel Redl received the 2nd prize in the Student Oral Presentation Competition for his presentation entitled
"Cell proliferation pattern and twist expression in an aplacophoran mollusk argue against segmented ancestry of mollusca".


Gertrud Pleskot Award 2016 (June 2nd, 2016)

Eva Ringler received the Gertrud Pleskot Award 2016 , for her remarkable publication output.
The Getrud Pleskot Award is an initiative at the Faculty of Life Sciences to improve the visibility and career perspectives of highly qualified female scientists publishing in the top journals of their field.

On March 19th, 2016 Julia Bauder received the ÖEG-Award at the ÖEG - Kolloquium 2016 in Lienz for her PhD Thesis "Extremely long butterfly proboscides: form, function and evolution".

NOBIS-Preis 2015  (November 28th, 2015)

Susanne Affenzeller MSc

On November 28th, 2015 Susanne Affenzeller received the"NOBIS-Preis 2015 für herausragende Forschung" at the Nobis Conference in Eggenburg. The Jury honored her talk "Morphometric approaches to species delineation and characterisation in the trochid Genus Gibbula (Gastropoda)”.


Carl von Schreibers Forschungspreis – Freunde des Naturhistorischen Museums Wien  (October 21st, 2015)

Oliver Macek Bsc

On October 21st, 2015 Oliver Macek received the „Carl von Schreibers Forschungspreis”. The Jury honored his scientific poster and mini talk about the Austrian Glomerides - “Cocktail um Cocktail. DNA-Barcoding der Saftkugler Österreichs”.


Frontiers in Zoology Preis 2015 – Deutsche Zoologische Gesellschaft  (October 27th, 2015)

Susanne Affenzeller MSc

On September 12th, 2015 Susanne Affenzeller received the „Frontiers in Zoology Preis 2015” for the best mini talk  “Species delineation: comparing the powers of DNA-barcoding and shell morphometrics in the trochid gastropod genus Gibbula” at the DZG 2015 Symposium of the Zoological Systematics Group.

won the first prize of the best oral presentation in the category ‘master students’ at the 17th European Congress of Herpetology (SEH, 22-27 August 2013, Veszprém, Hungary) for his talk ‘A camera trap study of mass-hibernation in Salamandra salamandra in the Vienna Woods, Austria’.
